Wonderful story. I worry about my German shepherd so much, as he may outlive me. I love my shepherd so much, and have had 6. But now I am a widow. The relationship with a dog is very different, the love is very deep. That officer had a great partner, who brought justice to his death. Dogs age as well as bond with their owners. An older dog usually isn’t adopted by people because they don’t have much time left . Please adopt these elderly dogs as they are such a blessing. They’ll love you no matter what. My heart is aching, and the tears are flowing freely from my eyes. Dogs are such amazing and loyal parts of our lives, at times to the point of being a soulmate. Clearly Sarge was on a mission for his partner, once fulfilled he could move on to take care of the family. Mysterious the workings of love and commitment.
